We cast off and Jake let the Day Skipper folks do some steering in the port to get their sailing hats back on. They were saying a lot of words Dominique and I just didn't get. They assured us that we would know what they were talking about at the end of the week. We weren't so sure.
It was a glorious day with blue skies and just a few clouds...well, except for those dark ones far far away.

| We aren't going in THAT direction, right? RIGHT?! |
Once well out of the port and its traffic, we hoisted the main sail and the Genoa and picked up some speed. Dominique and I did as we were told pulling this line and releasing that line. There are no ropes on a boat, only lines... unless you have soap on a rope on a boat...HAHAHAHA!!!
(*ahem* no one else on the boat thought it was funny either).
After a little while Jake thought it was a good idea to put me at the helm. OK, how hard could it be right?
Holy hell.
Watch the tell tales! Keep the course! Watch for other ships!
Oh my, the wind is picking up...why are we at this weird angle???
At this point I'm hanging on to the wheel for dear life, its starting to spit rain, Dominique looks like she wants to abandon ship and Jake is WOO HOO-ing.
Our captain is insane.
